A termite problem isn’t a simple thing. When termites attack a part of your home, you’ll need significantly to contact pest control companies. However, if you can do a termite inspection and how to solve termite case on your own, you can be free from an inspection cost.

However, when it is already a heavy termite attack, there is no other choice but calling for an inspector.

Below are the things involved in a termite inspection that includes the details of termite case and how to overcome it.

What Things that Indicate Termite Attacks

A termite inspector you hire from a pest control company will start working by arriving at your home and find several things that indicate termite growth and attack.

termite inspection

As termite can potentially cause a damage to certain parts of a house, an inspection is necessary to get rid of them. therefore, an inspector will identify the mud tubes, frass, wood damage, termite live and swarms and buckling paints.

Mud Tubes

Mud tubes are the superhighway for termites to pass to their nests. Mud tubes indicate that there are termites. An inspector will try to find these mud tubes in order to fully clean the termites and prevent them to live again in your home.

Wood Damage

Wood damaged potentially let the termites live in. Typically, the inspector will use screwdriver to recognize the termites’ tunnel. Or, if you see a tunnel of termites in your home wood structure, there is a big possibility that they live in a big group inside.

Termites Swarms

Similar to mud tubes and wood damages, termite swarms also indicate the development of new termite colonies.

Frass

Frass also shows you the presence of termites. Once you see frass on windowsills, door frames and baseboards, you’ll need a further termite inspection to get rid of them immediately.

Buckling Paints

Is a part of your paint buckling? If so, there are termites inside that develop life, causing a problem to your wood structure home. Now see whether your paint is bubbling up and there is a termite or two pass.

Live Termites

Believe it or not, identifying live termites is the most difficult process in a termite inspection. You must differentiate them from flying ants. Look at the wings to distinguish them.

Termites come with two pairs of wings. They also have the same wings size. On the other hand, flying ants have a larger front wing and smaller rear wings.

Where To Inspect Termites

There is a time when you want to handle your home maintenance on your own. Well, we have summarized where the inspector usually inspects the termites.

First, go to areas with lots of wooden structure like shed, carport, a deck and etc. where termites are usually passes and lives. Second, check your fence. If the termites start living around the fence and on the fence, they will easily find a way to get into your house. Once you find their presence in the fence, make sure you kill all the termites.

Third, termites also live in cracks in a brick construction. Cracks are ones of the easiest way of identifying the termite. What about dead wood? Can they live and have an activity? The answer is definitely yes. After that, they can dispose of the three limbs to keep the safety of the property. This is the fourth place to inspect the termites.

Next, you can go for a termite inspection in the firewood. Firewood is the best place for termites to feel cozy at night. Thus, make sure you keep your firewood well and never let the termites to live in just by placing the firewood not more than 10 feet away from your house.

A big question is; is there any termite on the roof so you need a roof inspection? Consult with your inspector about it.

How To Carry Out the Termite Inspection Process

As we have mentioned, inspecting termites cannot be simply done. However, if you hire an inspector to inspect termites, you can do the following tips on how to carry out the process.

  1. Create a schedule for a termite inspection with your pest control company. This way, you can create online or on the phone.
  2. Be ready at home based on the schedule you have created. This will allow your inspector to access parts of your home.
  3. Let your inspector examine your interior and exterior parts of the house and find the termite activity and infestation.
  4. Give your inspector time to eliminate the termites and decide what treatment to do to get rid of the termites.

All in all, termite inspection is highly necessary when you find a few signs of their development. Don’t hesitate to hold the inspection by yourself though it will be easier to hire an inspector from a pest control company.
